You know there is nothing that feels better than a hot ceramic coffee mug between your hands on a chilly winter day. It warms your palms in a pleasing and comforting sensation. I have a collection of almost two hundred ceramic coffee mugs. They are in every shape, size, color and pattern you can imagine. They come from countries all around the world. I guess it borders on the obsessive, but, hey... what can I say, I like coffee mugs.

Several years ago, my wife gave me a set of ceramic coffee mugs. There was four in the set, all silk screened with Van Gogh prints. These are now my wake-up standards. They generously hold a hefty jolt of caffeine, with the beautiful Impressionist images taking me to a different place and time.

On a hot summery days, I often reach for the blue mug from Portugal. It has a rounded top with a square base, and with its cooling, sky blue color, I can sit back, day dream and relax.

Are there times when you feel really stressed? Well maybe a brightly colored mug, one with your child's photo, or inspirational quote, may give you just the lift you need.

On a gray and rainy days, I like my turquoise and yellow ceramic coffee mug and saucer. It’s over sized and I can hold it in both hands and almost feel the brew itself.

Some cheerful colors and patterns of an Italian coffee mug are always inviting, at any hour, all year around. Italian demitasse mugs and saucers make an elegant presentation for after-dinner espresso in that style of coffee cup.

In December, you can bring out your Santa mugs, it helps to get everyone in the spirit! Your guests will feel the difference a festive presentation of after-dinner coffee brings to the gathering.

Now that you've considered the particular appeal of the ceramic coffee mug, I hope you'll join me in a steaming hot cup of java!
